Hello World

#1. Let's do this!

Business

The move by Qatar Airways to buy 25% of Virgin Australia will shake up airline travel in Australia fairly quickly. Smart move by Qatar after being blocked by the government last year in an attempt to fly new services in Australia. Now they can do it through Virgin and get better value for both airlines along the way.

Startups

The biggest thing in startups for Australia this week was SXSW in Sydney. Heaps of news there, so go browse the site to see what’s happening.

Finance

Stock markets both in the US and in Australia have hit all time highs recently. Can the run continue? History tells us that the end of the year tends to do well in both locations, but there are political winds blowing in the US and ongoing wars happening internationally. I don’t plan to get in or out of any investments in particular, but I’m watching with interest.

Any comments here is informational only. It should not be constituted as financial advice. I am not a financial adviser.

Tech

The test flight of Starship by SpaceX last week absolutely blew my mind. To be able to catch a small skyscraper falling out of the sky is insane. Well worth watching if you haven’t seen it.

Watching/Listening/Reading

The guys at All-In finally gave Friedberg some air time this week after viewer backlash because David Sacks kept talking over him in past episodes.
